About me and my practice
The key focus of my client work is to provide a safe, empathic, and supportive space where you can feel heard and validated.
Having received counselling myself, I understand the importance of being able to work with you to create a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel free and comfortable to explore whatever issues or difficulties you need to. Working at your pace I can help you to understand yourself better so that you can use the strengths and tools that you already have to find resolution and live a more fulfilling life.
My professional background is working in social care and as a social worker. As such, I have always had a passion for supporting people - especially those experiencing complex issues such as homelessness, life changes and coping with loss. I have experience working with adults with complex physical healthcare needs, carers, families, and older adults. Working in these environments has also given me a good understanding of the pressures that fast-paced highly-stressed workplaces can place on an individuals wellbeing leading to stress and burnout.
Experience
I work as an integrative counsellor which means that I use a variety of approaches including person-centred, psychodynamic, solution-focused and elements of cognitive behavioural therapy. This way of working allows me to be flexible in my approach and work in a way that is intuitive. My approach can be adapted to meet your individual needs.
My experience includes providing short term counselling in the NHS as well as open-ended counselling both in a low-cost clinic and in private practice.

Initial Consultation
I often suggest a initial free 20 min phone call/Zoom session. This is a opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get a sense of how I work and If Im right therapist for you.
We would then arrange a assessment session, after which we can either decide to continue with counselling or I can suggest other services or colleagues that could best meet your needs.
After six sessions we review how things are going and discuss if the initial goals have been met, and whether you wish to continue or end with therapy.
